Dentistry
Imagine you have a toothache - one of those penetrating,
piercing ones that forbids you to eat and makes sleeping
nearly impossible. Now imagine that you cannot
communicate your pain to anyone, not even the dentist.
This is probably how a dog or cat with dental problems
feels.
Dental health for animals is often neglected simply
because they cannot tell us when their teeth or gums
hurt. But dental disease is one of the most common
clinical conditions. Some animals (like people) are
predisposed to dental problems and must be observed and
treated in order to maintain their well-being. The type
of food an animal eats also plays a large part in his
dental health. Dry food is preferred over wet. A
well-formulated food is better than a cheaper product
because it has lots of nutrients that keep bones and
teeth healthy.
A helpful preventative for your dog is giving him chew
toys and dog biscuits designed to keep tartar under
control. Give your cat tartar control treats.
The old adage, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound
of cure,” holds true for your pet’s dental health.
Taking proper care of your pet’s teeth will help
eliminate expensive vet bills and unnecessary suffering
for your animals caused by diseased and abscessed teeth.
Regular check-ups can help identify any potential dental
problem before it becomes a painful condition.••• |
